For about two years, a group of our kids has been participating in the Sciabile project of the Sauze Project ski school. Three days a year are dedicated to the snow trip where our kids, helped by the excellent instructors, experience the thrill of skiing.
Those who can do it standing up, those who can't go on the shell (a supportive seat placed on a ski).
Behind the child is the instructor who guides the chair. The ski is steered by both, the child must follow the turns to help the instructor.
For me, skiing is a moment all to myself and it is the sport that helps me the most to release tension because by making the turns I completely let go.
When I go to the mountains it's always a dream because, besides the instructors who now know me, I feel like I'm at home!!!

SciAbile is an ambitious project, started in 2003 thanks to the support of BMW Italy, which aims to allow people with various types of disabilities to approach skiing and snowboarding completely free of charge.
The project provides participants with the necessary supports, which vary depending on the type of disability. The ski instructors who participate in the project are specialized and study and develop new teaching techniques for people with not only physical but also cognitive and sensory disabilities.
Four of our instructors are trainers for teaching people with disabilities at Formont, an institution under the College of Instructors of Piedmont, to train the ski and snowboard instructors of tomorrow.
Over the years, more than 800 students from Italy and abroad have participated in our courses, and over 7,600 hours of lessons have been given by the instructors. In the 2014-2015 season, about 800 hours of lessons were held, compared to requests for over 1,300 hours.
The "Sport Project SciAbile Onlus" was created to support the SciAbile project to ensure a new influx of funds that will be used to further develop and improve the "sciabile project," allowing an ever-increasing number of people with disabilities to participate. Continuing to provide this important service, which improves the quality of life of the children and offers them a new incentive to get back in the game, free of charge (instructors, equipment rental, transport, etc.). Investing in the training of instructors and in new technologies and equipment that are constantly evolving.
